Shimmer (series)
These paintings are inspired by digital video stills and the fracturing of images. The works are not mimetic representations of these stills but are rather a response to them. The paintings use optical effects to produce a sense of time and motion. The work is meant to be experiential and evocative, suggesting a liminal state of consciousness in which the re-imagining of the world becomes most active so that the "image" shimmers in and out of focus.
