The Home Project (series)
Abstractions of early 20th century Cleveland area homes.
Two features dominate life in Cleveland. One, Lake Erie, the other, the rows upon rows of early twentieth-century houses that nearing onto a century now, have provided homes for Cleveland’s workers. Erie, expansive and seemingly eternal, marks an infinite horizon line, sublime in her beauty. She reminds us of the bigger picture, the persistence of time. On her shores are huddled felled forests come workers’ homes, marked as they are by a patina of the lives lived within their walls, the living and dying, the joys and sorrows of those that provide the heartbeat of the heartland.
This is the source of "The Home Project:" Lake Erie’s grays and lavenders, the taupe of rising snow storms, the shapes of homes and lives knitted together, a small tribute to the fortitude and grit of Clevelanders.
